“Maculare”

This work represents the ‘Maculare’ of life……..spotted, stained, blemished, shadowed and flecked with time.

The darkroom is a place where I paint and collage, where I can bring out another side of the image.

The traditional silver gelatin print is hand-made which has a vitality and humanity of it’s own. The hand of the photographer is there and no print is ever the same.

I create a world of emotion and expression using chemical attacks, painterly traces and mark making working on each print for a period of six months.

The final image is purposly not overly determined or directed. The photo subconcsiously develops allowing for ‘accidents’, thus creating an organic, transcendental and lasting moment or ‘non-moment’

Pinhole camera photograph, silver gelatin, chemically altered one-off prints.
